LAST POST of my Untold Story! It’s continuing about the previous Harbin post, click this link to recall the previous post.
** January 18th, 2014 **
We departed at 8am. Before going back to Harbin, our school brought us for skiing first.
After we arrived at Meihuashan Ski Resort, we were queuing for renting ski equipments first. We spent quite long time and finally got those things hahaha. The ski equipments include shoes, ski board and ski pole.
That was my first experience for skiing, I have never done it before hahaha.
The equipments were quite heavy for me *sigh. And I hardly to walk while wearing those things.
After that, my friends and I went to give it a try haha. And I just could say, it’s hard!!
I started to learn walking first and then went to try skiing together with my friends. So, there were divided into two parts, there was an automatic elevator that brought us to the top and then let us to go down by skiing, while the other part was a rope tow.
For the first trial, we followed the others and tried the automatic elevator. We also need to queue on the elevator to reach the top haha! After reaching the top, I brave myself to ski down. And yes, I succeed in skiing!
It was so much fun!
After the first trial, we still wanted to ski again. When we saw the automatic elevator, it was extremely full queuing, while the other part with rope tow was so empty. So my friend asked me to try on that side.
OK, honestly it was hard to get and grab that moving rope tightly. I almost lost my hope to try that. But after several trial, we finally did it and reached the top LOL.
From the top, I saw it was so much higher and more steep compared to the first part we tried *facepalm.
But I have no choice beside going down by skiing hahaha.. so we were forced to do it, o yeah! I went down so fast and when I just reached the middle, I suddenly fell down LOL. Luckily nothing injured. But, well, I can’t stand up by myself, thanks to my friend who directly stopped by and helped to get me up hahaha.
After getting up, I continued to go down again by skiing and landing safely.
Finished with the skiing activity, we continued our journey back to Harbin.
After a long journey, we arrived at Harbin around 5pm and directly visited Bingxue Big World. It’s one of the most famous attraction in Harbin.
Bingxue Big World, which also known as Harbin Ice and Snow World is held on the bank of Songhua River every winter, and is the largest ice and snow festival in the world.
There are colorful ice lanterns, which made from ice carving.
I finally could see this beautiful ice blocks carving and took a lot of pictures.
The worst thing was the camera’s battery drained so fast in such a cold weather! So I had to make sure the battery was enough to take pictures as many as I could.
Please enjoy these pictures!!
Finished with it, we continued to have our dinner. It was a hot pot dinner with thinly sliced mutton. They said eating mutton could make you feel warmer in winter. OK, so I ate quite much and got sore throat on the following day, maybe I was just too warm LOL.
** January, 19th, 2014 **
Guess what day it was? It’s exactly my birthday LOL.
That was the first time I could experience having birthday far away from my family and hometown. So was it fun? Please keep reading to find out!
After having breakfast, we went to Saint Sophia Cathedral. It’s a former Russian Orthodox church located in the central district of Daoli, Harbin City.
The architecture is really beautiful, and there were a lot of tourists as well hahaha.
Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to get into the church, so please just enjoy these pictures.
After that, we went to participate activities in Songhua River Ice. There was a unique attraction, which elder would swim in the ice water in such a freezing winter.
The next itinerary was Harbin Central Street, Zhongyang Dajie. I don’t know why I didn’t take any picture of it at all haha. Luckily got shot by my friend although only three pictures LOL.
It is a pedestrian-only street lined with stores, restaurants, old architecture from Russian era and malls.
You could find some Russian products in there, especially the Russian chocolates.
As I didn’t have too many pictures, so I will just continue to the next place hahaha.
The next place which we visited was Heilongjiang Science and Technology Museum.
There are over 200 exhibits that combines science, knowledge, artistry together, which makes it a multi-functional science museum for visitors to enjoy.
Same with the precious place, I also didn’t take too many pictures of it hahaha.
After that, we went for dinner. And the dinner was Jiaozi! Woohoo I love Jiaozi so much. For who doesn’t know what Jiaozi is, it’s a kind of Chinese dumpling, yummy!
And as I said it’s my birthday. So my friends purposely told the teacher and the teacher gave me a bowl of dumpling skin soup instead of noodle (as the restaurant didn’t have noodle *sigh). But still thanks to the thoughtful teacher!
Here’s a picture with the beautiful teacher hehe..
They generously served so many dumplings and we couldn’t finish all. I felt that my tummy was going to explode LOL.
Going back to the bus, and while waiting to go back to hotel, my friends purposely (again) sang happy birthday song in mandarin version. So their objective was made anyone in the bus to wish me a happy birthday hahaha. And they succeed in their mission.
Arrived at the hotel, I took a bath and tidy up everything. Suddenly my roommate asked to stay in the bathroom as she was still changing her shirt. And when she told me if she’s done, I opened the door and got a birthday surprise in my room!!
Yes, they turned off the lights and everyone were waiting in front of the bathroom and brought a birthday cake for me.
Big thanks for this memorable surprise which I won’t forget.
Here, enjoy the pictures of my birthday surprise LOL.
** January 20th, 2014 **
The last day of winter vacation as January 21st would be back to Beijing. The first itinerary was Sun Island Park, it’s the second famous attraction of the annual Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.
It is best known as the snow sculpture display and competition area of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.
I took photo before getting into the park.
And of course the important part, pictures of the snow sculptures!
All of the snow sculptures came in big size and quite detail.
Sun Island Park area is quite big, and we couldn’t finish it all as we were running out of time.
And for the next itinerary was Guandong Ancient Lane. Actually it was just a shopping mall hahaha.
After finished visiting all places which were on itinerary, we went back to hotel and prepared everything for the closing ceremony of winter vacation.
The closing ceremony started from dinner till drop (which I actually didn’t sure what time it was finished, as we had been back to our room after the ceremony finished LOL).
** January 21st, 2014 **
Going back to Beijing! Bye Harbin, thanks for the good memory!
We took D26 train which departed at 10am. It’s a high speed train and took around seven and a half hours to arrive at Beijing.
So, this is the end of my Untold Story.
I flew back to my hometown on January 24th, 2014. Picked up by my family and got served with mommy’s steamed chicken rice. And finally got reunited with my family and friends again.
Living out of my hometown is an interesting experience. I feel satisfied I’ve done this at least once in a lifetime LOL. And I also feel happy to be back to my hometown.
Once, I’ve ever said that, going back to hometown means I will be back to my original life, nothing changed.
But now I could say that everything has changed since I decided to go study abroad. My life has changed and everything is getting better until now.
PS. I’m currently on my holiday trip to Australia and New Zealand while posting this. Always stay tune as I’ll post about this one-month-fun-trip as soon as I got back home!
